Things Are Finally Calming Down

Good afternoon everyone. Well, that was a heck of a way to start out a new week! A line of strong and severe thunderstorms swept in early this morning prompting numerous tornado warnings. Thankfully, no tornadoes were reported and I have not seen a whole lot of severe weather reports.

The rains today have been very impressive with much of central Kentucky picking up more than an inch of rain. Look at the totals from Kentucky Mesonet…

Today’s Rainfall

The heaviest rains through this afternoon and evening will be located across eastern Kentucky. Follow the drops on our statewide radar…

The next few days will feature a mix of sun and clouds with some scattered showers floating around. Highs will range from the upper 60s to low 70s through Thursday. That is when another cold front sweeps in here with a serious blast of cold air for the weekend.

The GFS shows this very well for Saturday…

Can you handle highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s for a few days as we roll into October? This air may produce the first frost of the season for a lot of people. I will be talking more about this as we go through the rest of the week.

Have a great rest of your Monday and take care.
