Mid October Pattern Looks Active

Good Wednesday everyone. It’s hard to believe we are already moving into the middle of October. Wow! Where the heck does the time go? The weather pattern is about to really crank up and become an active one that tries to take on a winter look.

Let’s start the day out with your 5 Day Forecast…

Here’s a breakdown…

– Showers will linger into eastern Kentucky early today as the rest of the state deals with a mix of sun and clouds. High temps will range from the upper 60s to low 70s.

– The next storm system rolls in on Thursday with showers and thunderstorms breaking out from west to east. Locally heavy rains are a good bet. Winds are going to gust up as the cold front swings in.

– Leftover showers will be around in the north and east on Friday. This will be a windy and much cooler day with highs within a degree or two of 60.

– The weekend looks great with highs hitting the mid 60s Saturday and low 70s for Sunday. Mainly sunny skies will be noted for both days.

The pattern into next week is one that won’t look very much like October. A powerful cold front will enter our weather picture by Tuesday with gusty winds and heavy rains possible. This front is being pushed by the coldest air of the season and will slam on the brakes once to our east on Wednesday. A wave of low pressure develops along this front and throws moisture back into the cold air.

This setup is one you would normally see in the wintertime. The GFS Model continues to show what i’m talking about…

That is an interesting setup and is one that can produce some wild October weather for the Ohio Valley. We will keep an eye on that and have updates as needed.

Enjoy your Wednesday and take care.
