A Winter Scare To Start Halloween Weekend

Good Friday and welcome to Halloween Weekend. Mother nature is getting into the spirit of things and will give parts of the state a scare as some wintry weather moves in. The first flakes of the season may fly tonight across the eastern half of the state as a major snowstorm works up the east coast.

We have been hyping this setup for more than a week now and old man winter is set to deliver the goods. Low pressure will develop across the deep south later today and then slowly work northward along the east coast into the weekend. This could be an historic early season snow from the Appalachians to the northeast.

Light rain will break out early today across southern Kentucky and then work northward across the state. It appears many areas will see some rain later today. Here is a rough look at our rain chances…

The heaviest rain will be across the south and east with lighter drops across central Kentucky. Highs will range from near 40 in the south and east to the mid and upper 40s for central sections.

As the storm deepens across the Carolinas tonight and early Saturday… much colder air will filter into the state. This means a mix of rain and snow will be possible with some areas in the east or southeast making a switch to wet snow for a bit. Far southeastern Kentucky may get in on a slushy accumulation. Take  look at what i’m expecting…

I will update that map later today as this system gets a bit closer. Whatever is falling across the east Saturday morning should end rather quickly as our storm pulls away.

Follow today’s action…

More updates will come your way later today, so check back. Have a great Friday and take care.
