Good Saturday everyone. Our Halloween weekend got off to a rather wintry start with many areas picking up some sleet and snow Friday into early this morning. The rest of the weekend will see much better weather as some sunshine returns.
Several areas of eastern and southeastern parts of the stated picked up a slushy accumulation of snow Friday. Some folks will wake up to a touch of the white stuff this morning before it moves off to the east. This is all part of an historic snowstorm pummelling areas along the Appalachian mountains into the northeast. Some spots will get nearly 2 feet of wet snow and this will cause major issues for millions of people.
While all the Friday focus was on snow. Lexington managed to only hit 41 degrees for a high temp and that was the 4th coldest October high over the past 49 years. That is an impressive stat for the city!
The rest of our day will see a mix of sun and clouds with only a small threat for an afternoon shower. Highs should reach the low 50s for central Kentucky as the east stays in the upper 40s.
If you are heading out to Commonwealth Stadium tonight… it will be a chilly one.
Sunday’s weather looks good with highs back into the 50s with partly sunny skies. We may actually start the day with readings down into the 20s. Brrrr!
Our Halloween weather will see another system working in from the northwest. This should cause clouds and scattered showers to increase and that may spell trouble for the trick or treaters. Highs look to be in the upper 30s and low 40s.
I will have more updates through the weekend, so check back. Have a great Saturday and take care.
