Good Sunday everyone and welcome to another soaker of a rainstorm. A slow moving system will continue to work through Kentucky today and won’t leave us alone until the middle of the week. This will put down a whole lot of rain before things take on a more wintry look and feel.
Heavy rain from today through Tuesday may end up causing some flooding problems. Here’s what i’m expecting:
2″-4″ of rain is likely across much of the state over the next several days. Our rivers are already running high and this much rain will likely cause significant rises on them. This will be something to really keep an eye on over the next few days.
All of this rain is in response to a big closed upper level low sitting just to our southwest today. This low is a cold pool of air that will likely produce some snow all the way into Mississippi and Alabama. This low will slowly lift northward into Kentucky by Tuesday and will cause some of our rain to mix with or change to snow. Yes… we will see a switch to snow coming in from the south!
We will he hard pressed to get much in the way of accumulations because of a warm and wet ground. Still… I can’t rule it out.
I will have updates as needed. Enjoy your Sunday and take care.
