Good evening everyone. December will be getting off on a seasonal note across Kentucky and this should carry us into the start of the weekend. The pleasant weather is likely to give way to another massive storm system that may bring heavy rain, snow and colder temps our way.
The setup for Sunday into early Tuesday is one that can produce more heavy rains across much of the same areas that were drenched a few days ago. The GFS rainfall forecast is sobering:
If that model run verifies… flooding would again be a real concern for many areas early next week.
This storm should have MUCH colder air to work with meaning a better chance for a switch to snow. The same GFS model shows this cold air swooping in late Tuesday:
It’s an active pattern that continues to take on a much more wintry aspect with each passing storm.
I will update next week’s threat later tonight. Enjoy the evening and take care.
