Arctic Shot Targets The New Year

Good Thursday everybody and thanks for making us your source for weather. The remaining days of 2011 will be fairly uneventful. The same cannot be said about the first few days of 2012 as an arctic blast of air targets the state.

Our short term weather features a fairly cloudy day today with breezy and mild conditions. Afternoon highs will reach the upper 40s to near 50. Similar conditions will be with us for the next few days before we go the other way. The 5 Day Forecast really shows the big change ahead of us:

That scoots on out of here to give us a breezy and mild New Year’s Eve with temps only in the 30s as we ring in 2012.

Sunday is our BIG day of change as an arctic front blows into town by evening. Rain showers will be ahead of this front and will quickly change to snow showers as cold air moves in. Snow showers and flurries should be around into early next week to compliment the coldest air of the season, so far.

Temps will be well below normal:

I’ll talk more about next week with my update later today. Have a great day and take care.
