Your Week Ahead Weather

Good Monday, folks. We are moving back into a much milder weather pattern for the next few days. That’s a fitting ending to a month that featured a lot more March than January. With February just around the corner… big changes to the overall pattern are lurking and this may mean the most sustained period of winter since last season.

The short term forecast is nothing short of amazing. Temps will start cold today, but will quickly warm into the low 50s by this afternoon with a mainly sunny sky. That’s the start of a three day run of mild air showing up in the forecast…

Tuesday looks to be the warmest day of the week with highs around a spring-like 60 degrees. We should see a hint of some clouds moving in by the afternoon. Those clouds will thicken up by Wednesday and that’s when a few showers begin to move in from the west. The rain is associated with a wave of low pressure that moves over us on Thursday. That should bring a pretty good drink of water to the state.

Colder air will then slowly filter back in by Friday. It’s just beyond the 5 Day that the real changes begin to show up. The pattern becomes favorable for cold and possible snow for much of the eastern half of the country. The jet stream will feature a big ridge out west with a trough in the east.

That should allow for a significant storm to develop by next weekend and this would have the chance to produce some snow around here. The European Model continues to be rather bullish on the idea…

We will have to keep an eye on that setup. It doesn’t stop there, as the models all show¬† the deep trough in the eastern part of the country trying to lock in…

Winter loves may finally have something to cheer for.

Have a wonderful Monday and take care.
