Good Friday and welcome to a holiday weekend full of heat! Temps over the next several days will head toward the 90s and we could be looking at some records falling. This period may mark one of the hottest May stretches on record for much of the bluegrass state.
Readings today will hit the low 90s in the west and flirt with 90 for most of central and eastern Kentucky. Those numbers will increase a few degrees for Saturday and Sunday. Throw in an increase in humidity and you have all the makings of a sultry and sweaty weekend.
Here’s a look at the record highs to keep an eye on over the next few days:
Today: 91 1953
Saturday: 94 1939
Sunday: 93 1911
Monday: 93 1941
There is just the smallest chance for a popcorn storm over the weekend. Don’t hold your breath on that one. A better threat for some storms will be with us as we head into the first half of next week.
That may usher in a cooler brand of air as we open the month of June. The European Model is pointing in this direction:
That would certainly feel nice!
Have a great Friday and check back for updates on the heat through the weekend. Take care.
