Good Sunday everyone. Our mini heat wave rolls on across the bluegrass state and today is likely to be the hottest of the bunch. That doesn’t spell very good news for all those outdoor activities today. You may not even technically need the grill today as the sun and heat might get that steak to medium rare, at least.
I do have some good news and it has nothing to do with saving money on car insurance. A much cooler pattern is on the way for next week and it’s a pattern that can bring us a nice drink of water.
Let’s start with today and work forward. It’s hot and humid. That about does it for the short term. Low to mid 90s should be common today with records within reach. Follow the trend here:
Today: 93 1911
Monday: 93 1941
Highs on Memorial Day should come down a degree or two from where we are today. That is still plenty hot enough. We could also be seeing a few thunderstorms going up during the heart of the afternoon. Your picnic is on notice.
A much better shot at showers and storms will be with us Monday night and Tuesday as a cold front works through here. Locally heavy downpours and a strong storm will be possible. Cooler air then works in behind this from with highs around 80 for Tuesday and Wednesday.
A more significant push of cool air should work in by the end of the week as low pressure develops across the Ohio Valley. The European Model:
The first few days of June could be cool and damp.
Have a great Sunday and take care.
