Good Monday everyone. Many areas picked up some much needed rainfall over the weekend as showers and storms rolled across the state. While we have a slight chance for a storm or two today, it’s the heat and humidity that will dominate the weather headlines this week. Some of the hottest air of the entire summer may be on tap this week.
It will be a very warm and muggy Monday across central and eastern Kentucky. Highs today will warm to the mid and upper 80s under partly sunny skies. There could still be a shower or storm trying to pop… especially in the north and east. Here’s your regional radar:
The heat really kicks in by Tuesday and Wednesday with 90-95 degree air being forecast by many of the models. The GFS certainly shows the heat:
Throw in high humidity levels during this time and you have the recipe for a serious case of the muggies.
Can we pop a storm during this time? The same GFS tries to do just that by Wednesday afternoon:
A cold front will approach the state by late Thursday into Friday and should be able to fire up a better chance of storms. That will also knock our temps down a bit before they jump back up by late weekend. That may be ahead of another cold front that drops our way by early next week.
It’s a hot and humid week ahead. Enjoy the weather out there today and take care.
