Good Saturday everyone and welcome to the weekend. Things are kicking off on a very pleasant note across the commonwealth today. Sunny skies and comfy temps will combine to make for a winner of a day. We have even cooler air on the way and that’s all part of an up and down forecast over the next week.
Highs today will hit the middle 80s for much of central and eastern Kentucky. Humidity levels are down and that means it’s a comfortable mid 80s.
Sunday will be a windy and a hot day as temps return to the upper 80s and lower 90s. This heat surge is ahead of a cold front that moves in for Monday. This bad boy will fire up some scattered showers and thunderstorms as it passes by.
The big news is the cool air that follows. Temps in the upper 70s for highs will be possible early next week. The GFS Ensembles Temp Departure shows how far below normal we may be:
That cool down will hang for a few days and then quickly exit as another surge of heat tries to build in by the end of next week.
I am amazed that this up and down temp pattern is not produce much in the way of rain and thunderstorms around here. That’s not a good sign going forward.
Have a great Saturday and take care.
