Good Tuesday everyone and thanks for dropping by the blog. We have a massive heat wave that will engulf the bluegrass state late this week into the upcoming weekend. This bad boy may set records as our temps head close to 100 degrees across many areas.
Let me start you out with some good news and that’s the weather of today. Highs will generally run on the comfortable side of things with upper 70s and lower 80s. Mostly sunny skies will rule the state.
Take a look at the map for today…
We are enjoying a nice little dip in the jet stream that is bringing a fall blast of air to the eastern part of the country. You have Tropical Storm Debby lingering across Florida and that system is in no big hurry to move.
You also have a massive heat ridge across the western half of the country. That will push east for the second half of the week with temperatures approaching 100 degrees. Records may fall right on into the upcoming weekend. There is a small threat for a storm over the weekend… I stress the word small.
We desperately need the rain. A drought is developing across central and eastern Kentucky, but it’s western Kentucky that is in bad shape. Look at how far below normal that area is this year…
That is scary looking out there and the drought is slowly spreading eastward.
Have a great Tuesday and take care.
