Good Thursday everyone. We are coming off the hottest 4th of July on record for Lexington and we may be near record highs again today. The potential triple digit temps will also bring the threat for more thunderstorms to the region. This is basically more of the same stuff that we have seen for the past week.
This historic run of heat is second only to the summer of 1936. That summer featured 21 1oo degree days, so this summer would have to go totally crazy to surpass that.
Today’s record highis 96 from back in 1988. That will likely bite the dust as our temps head close to 100 degrees. The only thing that would keep us from getting that hot would be showers and thunderstorms. I do expect a few of those to go up today and some of those may be strong or severe.
I have you set up to track the storms and heat:
Have a great Thursday and take care.
