Rainy Weather Rolls On

Good Friday everyone. The showers and thunderstorms arrived right on cue Thursday afternoon and that action continues out there today. The much needed rains will be with us each and every day through the upcoming weekend. As a matter of fact, it looks like a daily threat for a few boomers all the way through next week. Complaints? Didn’t think so.

The thunderstorm that developed over Lexington Thursday afternoon dumped a ton of rain. 2.41″ of water fell in less than two hours time out at Blue Grass Airport. That was thisclose to breaking a rainfall record for the day.

A complex of rain and embedded thunderstorms will continue to lift northward across central and eastern Kentucky today. This will dump more in the way of heavy rain on parts of the region.

Scattered showers and storms will continue this weekend and will be more prominent during the afternoon and evening. With a tropical air mass in place, any storm can put down a lot of water in a short amount of time.

Let’s get busy tracking today’s much needed rainfall:

Rainfall Since Midnight

Have a great Friday and take care.
