Good Saturday everyone. The rain of the past few days has gone a LONG way to help out with the drought conditions across much of central and eastern Kentucky. Not everyone has been lucky enough to get in on the soaking rains and the sharp rain gradient should get taken care of this weekend.
More showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast over the next several days and that will include some widespread action today. We have a very tropical air mass in place and this will set the stage for locally heavy downpours. A strong storm or two can’t be ruled out today as our temps hit the 80s.
Scattered storms will return Sunday afternoon to cap off our weekend. Additional rains over the next few days may exceed an inch or two in some areas. The pattern into next week should feature more rounds of storms going up. Here’s the updated 5 day rain forecast from the SPC:
