Good Saturday everyone and welcome to a calm weekend in the bluegrass state. We are coming off a heck of a severe weather outbreak over the past few days and mother nature owes us some nice stuff. It looks like she will pay up just in time for the weekend.
The Friday storms were big wind producers across many areas as gusts hit 70mph for some. Blue Grass airport recorded a gust of 66mph Friday evening and that’s one of the highest official wind gusts I have ever seen there.
We also picked up more than an inch of rain during this latest round of storms and that puts Lexington in record rainfall territory for the month. Our nearly eight inches of rain for July makes this the tenth wettest July on record. Talk about a dramatic turnaround in the rain category!
The weather this weekend will feature a mix of sun and clouds with temps in the 80s for highs and lower humidity levels. There is the smallest threat for a pop up shower… especially in the east.
The weather for next week looks like it will produce more in the way of showers and thunderstorms as our temps head back toward 90.
Have a wonderful Saturday and take care.
