Good Wednesday everyone. We are toasting it up a bit out there today as we await a big weather change that’s just ahead of us. This change will bring us a heck of a cool shot of air for the middle of August. The problem is, things could get a little bumpy just ahead of the pleasant temps.
As usual, we start you out with what’s going on today. Temps will head into the upper 80s and low 90s for much of our part of the world. Throw a tad more humidity into the mix and a scattered shower or thunderstorm will be possible.
The main thunderstorm action will crank up later Thursday as the cold front nears the region from the northwest. This will put us in the zone for possible severe thunderstorms and that’s something I will be keeping a close eye on.
Showers and storms should carry us into Friday as the front blasts across the bluegrass state. The cooler air moving in behind it is something out of the middle of September. Take a look at the numbers from the GFS:
This is a well advertised cool down and the GFS Ensembles show how far below normal our temps should be:
That has been a long time coming for much of the eastern half of the country! Here’s hoping we can talk it into sticking around a while.
Have a great Wednesday and take care.
