Good Thursday everyone and thanks for checking in. We have a major pattern change taking place over the next few days. It’s one that will take us from the dog days of summer to a fall preview. When you get an abrupt change of seasons like that, booming thunderstorms are usually the result and that looks to be the case today.
A storm system is working into the Ohio Valley today and it is being pushed along by a big shot of Canadian high pressure. The cool air pouring into the back of the storm will collide with the hot and humid air in front of it. The end result will be rounds of showers and thunderstorms today into early Friday.
The best chance for storms will come this afternoon into tonight as a cold front sweeps in. This is when some of the thunderstorms could go severe on us with damaging winds and hail as the main players.
That action will slowly wind down on Friday as the cool and dry air works in. Temps by Friday look to stay in the middle and upper 70s and that trend should continue into Saturday and Sunday. Lows by the weekend will drop into the cool 50s and may threaten a record low in some spots.
Let’s get you all set up to track today’s storms:
I will have updates as needed so check back. Have a great Thursday and take care.
