Major warm up moving in

Good Thursday everyone. We’re inching closer and closer to the weekend and a big time warm up. The next few days will feature some of the nicest weather we’ve had around here in nearly a month.

Temps today will remain below normal with 20s to start and low 50s to end. Skies will be mostly sunny and this is a sign of things to come. Sunshine will carry us through the upcoming weekend as gusty southwesterly winds warm our temps. Readings will hit the low 60s Friday then head into the mid and upper 60s for Saturday and Sunday. A few sports may hit 70 before all is said and done.

Take full advantage of the weekend weather and get outside and enjoy it because a big change moves in early next week. A strong cold front will approach the state on Monday with gusty winds and an increasing threat for showers and storms. Take a look at the GFS progression:

Take a look at what a temp swing that model shows from Monday to Tuesday:

That’s a heck of a swing and temps may drop more than 20 degrees in a few hours as the front passes Monday evening. It’s also a setup that can take us from thunderstorms to snowflakes in a matter of hours.

Never a dull moment around here.

Have a great Thursday and take care.
