Good Saturday and welcome to the last weekend of February. Our weather is looking pretty good for the next few days. Let’s be sure to get out and enjoy the normal temps because a prolonged period of wintry weather is about to kick in.
Temps today will be in the low and middle 40s under a mix of sun and clouds. An area of low pressure is working to our southeast and that may throw a scattered shower into far southeastern parts of the state.
Your Saturday weather trackers…
Sunday will see more in the way of sunshine with temps starting in the 20s and ending in the upper 40s.
Monday will be a very warm day with high temps soaring into the 50s. A gusty southwesterly wind will be noted as a strong low pressure works in from the west. Showers and thunderstorms will be possible late in the day into Monday night.
Much colder air will then filter in on Tuesday with rain and snow a good possibility. This will be the beginning of a prolonged period of cold weather that will carry us into early March. This should also produce several snow systems around here.
A tremendous amount of blocking will develop across eastern Canada into Greenland. The North Atlantic Oscillation will enter a very negative phase over the next few weeks:
We have a long way to go before we can get to spring. Have a great Saturday and take care.
