A blast of chill follows the storms

Good Friday and welcome to a BIG weather change. A powerful cold front is pushing through the state early today and bringing wind driven rain and thunderstorms. The air behind this bad boy will take knock our temps down toward March levels.

Heavy rain this morning will fade away by the early afternoon hours. Winds will be super gusty and may approach 40mph at times as the colder air blows in. Readings by the afternoon will struggle to get much past the 50 degree mark.

Current temperatures

The chill air of the afternoon will grow colder tonight as readings drop toward the freezing mark. A similar temp trend will be noted by Sunday morning:


Green thumbs that tried to get an early jump on mother nature may be sweating it out over the next few mornings.

The weekend looks to feature a good amount of sunshine with highs warming from the 50s on Saturday to the 60s for Sunday.

Those 60s will warm back toward the low 70s by Monday and Tuesday. That warm up won’t last very long as we track another strong cold front into the region by Wednesday morning:

EuroThat’s the European model and that setup will likely produce another severe weather threat as colder air slams back in.
