Good Tuesday, everyone. We have one more day of awesome weather across our region before things take a turn toward the ugly. A strong cold front will slide in early Wednesday and bring showers and thunderstorms our way. This might be the warning shot for a wetter system developing just in time for the weekend.
Highs today will soar into the low to mid-70s with a mix of sun and clouds. Those clouds will slowly increase later this afternoon as the cold front inches closer. A line of gusty showers and thunderstorms will form to our west and move into Central and Eastern Kentucky very late tonight into Wednesday morning.
That shows up well on the NAM:
I’m not expecting anything severe with this system, but gusty winds will be the calling card of the colder air blowing in for the middle of the week. Wednesday afternoon readings will drop into the upper 40s to low 50s.
Thursday looks dry and cool, with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s.
Our next system might influence our weather as early as Friday, with some late-day showers and thunderstorms. A slow-moving low pressure system will work in from the southwest, bringing widespread showers and some thunderstorms over the weekend. The new European Model figures the nasty stuff will stick around into early next week:
That setup would make for a case of nasty weather around here. Let’s hope it changes.
Have a great Tuesday and take care.
