Good Sunday to one and all. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms will continue to roll across the region today. This action will slowly wind down over the next few days as temps start to rise. From there… we start to focus on a slow moving system moving in for Derby weekend.
The storms out there today will put down quite a bit of rainfall. 1″-2″ totals will be possible through tonight and some areas may pick up a little more than that. I can’t rule out some local high water issues and we need to keep an eye on a few stronger storms.
Temps today will hit the 60s and maybe 70 for any areas getting a few rays of sunshine. Let’s track today’s action:
A few storms will linger into Monday as temps rebound to around 70 for highs. Thermometer readings will really take off for Tuesday and Wednesday and may soar toward the 80 degree mark.
A big dip in the jet stream will be noted across the middle of the country by the middle of the week. That will slowly work our way by later in the week in the form of a closed upper level low. Those things bring can bring a lot of nasty weather to areas directly under them.
The computer models are trying to figure out where this thing sets up. Some of the latest runs put us on the rainy and milder side of things for Oaks and Derby Day:
We will need to keep watch on this setup as it can bring some ugly stuff our way for the big weekend.
Make it a great Sunday and take care.
