The 80s are back

Good Wednesday and welcome to a summer preview. Highs on Tuesday soared toward 80 degrees and will go even higher today. This pattern will feature several days of highs in the 80s. But it will come with a price as showers and thunderstorms begin to flare up again.

Highs today will hit the middle 80s for much of the region. These aren’t too far away from record highs in the upper 80s. Parts of Western Kentucky might hit the upper 80s to about 90 degrees. That is impressive, my friends.

A cold front will drop into the Ohio Valley on Thursday and will deliver the threat of showers and thunderstorms. That front will never make it through here, but it will hang around the region through the weekend.

A strong cold front will then sweep into town by late Tuesday, with a strong and severe storms possible. Check out the seven-day rainfall forecast from the GFS:

GFS RainThe good news is that temps will continue to run on the toasty side, with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s. Throw in higher humidity levels, and you have a lot of juice for the storms to work with.

Our wet spring rolls on.

Make it a great day and take care.
