Looking at the start of summer

Good Tuesday, everybody. We have some warm air continuing to push into the commonwealth, and this will give us a heck of a summer preview. The warm air will eventually be joined by higher humidity.

Highs today will be in the mid-80s with a gusty southwesterly wind. Highs for the rest of the week will be in the mid- and upper 80s under partly sunny skies.

The threat of  showers and storms will increase by Friday, and those chances will ramp up for the weekend. That happens as a strong cold front moves our way:

That could lead to some pretty good storms around here by late Saturday and Sunday.

It looks as if this pattern will stick around into the start of June. But some of the seasonal models are taking on a cooler look. Check out the CFS weeklies:

CFS 1

That would sent the major warmth out to the west as we turn cooler than normal. Here is the same model run for the entire month of June:

CFS 2

As someone who does not like super hot weather, I would take that and run with it.
