Good Friday to one and all. We’ve made it to the final weekend for the month of June and it’s a big one here in the bluegrass state. NASCAR has invaded the Kentucky Speedway up in Sparta and all the motorheads are hoping for some great weather.
It looks like Mother Nature has mixed emotions on these hopes. We will have very pleasant temps this weekend, but the threat for showers and thunderstorms will continue to be with us.
Temps today will top out between 80 and 85 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be on the move and I have you all set to track them:
An upper level low will pinwheel into the Ohio Valley by Saturday and that will become cutoff by the main flow. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms will be working across the region from northwest to southeast. Some of these storms may be on the strong side and produce heavy rainfall.
That’s the bad news part of your weekend. The good news… temps look to be about as good as you can get for this time of year. Take a look at the forecast highs from the GFS:
Remember last year at this time? Temps were hitting 100 degrees and we were in a drought. Yep… I will take the weather we have right now.
Your holiday week looks rather stormy with temps in the low 80s for highs.
Have a wonderful Friday and take care.
