Good Monday, everyone. This is one amazing weather pattern we have going on across the eastern part of the country. Frost advisories across the northern plains in July is about as rare as you can get. Around here… we continue to deal with some super cool stuff to start the new week.
Temps this morning will break records across much of central and eastern Kentucky with lows in the low and mid 50s. Some upper 40s will be possible and that deserves a big old WOW!
Highs this afternoon will hit the mid and upper 70s with more in the way of sunshine.
Things start to change up as we roll into later Tuesday and Wednesday as a weak wave of low pressure works across the region. This will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms through here. The Hi Res NAM shows this well:
Locally heavy rains will be possible as we close out the month of July. Those rains will move us into the top 5 wettest Julys on record.
Temps by the end of the week will warm back into the middle 80s with a small threat for a shower or thunderstorm. Our next best chance for showers and storms moves in over the weekend as a cold front dives in here. That front is being pushed by another huge dip in the jet stream for early next week:
That means cooler than normal air pushes back into our part of the world. The latest look from the CFS shows the cool air continuing through the middle of the month:
Have a great Monday and take care.
