Good Monday to one and all. Our work week is kicking off in fine fashion with pleasant temps a a shot of sunshine. Go out and take full advantage of it because rounds of showers and thunderstorms will kick into high gear for the middle and end of the week.
Temps today will top out in the upper 70s and low 80s with high clouds streaming in from the west. This is ahead of the stormy pattern that starts later Tuesday and kicks into high gear by Wednesday and Thursday.
Rounds of storms will roll eastward across the state and some of these may be on the strong side. The potential is there for a lot of rain to fall before the week is finished:
Lexington only needs a little over an inch of rain to crack the top 10 wettest summers on record and that is likely to happen before the week is finished.
Rounds of showers and thunderstorms appear to be rather common on many of the medium range forecast models. The 2 week GFS rainfall forecast shows a lot of juice…
While we may squeeze out a “normal” warm day or two… most of the next few weeks will feature thermometer readings below normal.
Have a happy Monday and take care.
