Scattered storms increase today

Good Sunday, folks. Moisture continues to slowly work in from the south and this will lead to a better chance for showers and storms today. This increase in juice from the Gulf of Mexico is a sign of a different weather pattern taking shape over the next week or so.

Let’s make this clear right off the bat… today is not going to be a washout. That said, you will need to keep the umbrella handy if you plan on being outside for an extended period of time. Today’s action will have the potential to put down some very heavy rains for a few spots. Let’s track it:

Temps today will be around 80 for areas missing out on the storms and mid 70s for those areas getting in on the boomers.

The big difference will be with the muggy factor and that’s something that will continue to ramp up as we roll into the coming week. High pressure will anchor itself off the east coast and direct warm and muggy conditions our way:

GFS 3That setup will also give us the daily threat for a shower or thunderstorm… especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

High school football kicks off next Friday and it looks like we will be dealing with a similar pattern to what we have early this week:

GFS 2Make it  a great Sunday and take care.
