Good Saturday, everyone. The last weekend of August is underway and mother nature is giving us a taste of the good stuff. We have plenty of sunshine and pleasant temps to go around out there today. Things will be changing in a hurry as we roll into next week as hot air makes a run at us.
Temps today will hit the low 80s for most of central and eastern Kentucky today as sunny skies continue. Sunday will be just a tad warmer with more in the way of sunshine.
Moisture and temps will really increase by Monday and that means temps hitting the mid and upper 80s with the chance for scattered storms.
A big ridge of heat is set to blast much of the middle part of the country. That will get just close enough to us to send out temps into the upper 80s to near 90 on any given day next week.
A pattern like this usually fires up clusters of storms along the periphery of the heat and we look to get in on some of that action. Here’s the GFS by Wednesday:
That will be something to keep an eye on as we move into next week.
This pattern is already showing signs of breaking down as we head into early September. Check out the big dip in the jet stream on the GFS Model:
