Breaking down the week ahead

Good Sunday, folks. Our “wow” of a weather weekend is wrapping up with more of the nice stuff out there today. This is about as nice of a pattern as you can get around here. The week ahead will feature some changes, as our pattern becomes much more active.

Let’s break it all down…

Highs today will hit the low and mid 70s as some high clouds stream in from the west. These clouds are ahead of a weak cold front that will slide across the state on Monday. There isn’t a ton of moisture with this boundary, but it may have just enough juice to spark a shower or two.

Highs Monday may wind up a few degrees cooler than what we have today. Here’s what the NAM is suggesting:

NAM 3There isn’t much change with the air mass as we head into Tuesday. Highs in the 70s will be the norm under a mix of sun and clouds.

The setup becomes much more active for the middle and end of the week. This happens as our jet stream starts to buckle across the northern plains. This will mean an increase in temps, humidity levels and storm chances:

GFSThe storm chances will really ramp up as we work toward the start of next weekend, when a cold front moves in.

The overall pattern looks very active as we roll through the rest of the month.

Have a great Sunday and take care.
