Tracking storms to start the weekend

Good Friday to one and all. We’ve made it to the weekend, and Mother Nature is getting ready to kick things off in booming style. Showers and thunderstorms will roll across the state later today and tonight. Some of them could be on the strong side.

A cold front is working our way and will have a lot of tropical moisture to work with. That means a scattering of storms will flare up today as humidity levels spike. As the front nears, showers and thunderstorms will become widespread from west to east this evening. That does not bode well for high school football games, especially the farther west you are.

High School Football ForecastSome of the storms might contain high winds and small hail. Heavy rain and lightning will be likely, with the line racing through here into Saturday morning.

Drier and cooler air works in as Saturday wears on and continues into Sunday and Monday. Lows will hit the 40s, with highs in the upper 60s to near 70.
