A busy pattern taking shape

Good Monday and welcome to the first full day of fall. The new season is starting off with very nice weather across the commonwealth. Get outside and soak it up because our pattern is about to get a little busy.

Temps today start in the 40s and end in the upper 60s to low 70s for much of central and eastern Kentucky. Here’s how the day will look across the state:

Clouds will increase from southwest to northeast as moisture starts to return. A system in the upper levels will dive in from the northwest and pull up additional juice from the Gulf. The end result will be showers returning by late Tuesday into Wednesday.

Here’s the simulated radar from the NAM for Tuesday evening:

NAM 1Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be around through Wednesday and early Thursday. That will keep temps running cooler than normal.

Our weekend will get started off on a nice note, but it’s not going to end that way. A cold front will work across the state Saturday night and Sunday:

That will bring gusty showers and storms to much of the region. Much cooler air will sweep in behind that boundary for Sunday and Monday. Some of the models develop a pretty cool and damp setup by early next week.

Make it a great Monday and take care.
