A mild start to October

Good Tuesday and welcome to October. The 10th month of the year is upon us and it’s starting out on a very mild note. This mild note will hang around for several more days before big changes move in for the weekend.

The forecast for the short term is pretty straightforward. Highs today into Wednesday will be in the mid to upper 70s under a partly sunny sky. There will be a tad more humidity into the mix and that may lead to a popup shower or thunderstorm.

If it’s out there, it will show up on our radars:

Moisture will continue to increase into Thursday and that leads to a better shot for showers and storms. Here’s what the NAM is showing:

A scattering of storms will be possible for the opening day at Keeneland on Friday. Highs will be in the upper 70s.

A powerful cold front will swing in here over the weekend and will deliver widespread rain to the region. The front looks to arrive a little deeper into the weekend and may have a secondary low pressure developing along it:

Euro 2That second low would keep our rain chances around through Sunday into Monday as much cooler air moves in. Just how cold that is will depend on how quickly the front moves through here.

Have a great day and take care.
