Good Sunday to one and all. Old Man Winter is fighting is way back into the bluegrass state today and he looks to settle in for a while. A much colder than normal pattern is taking shape for the next few weeks and this is likely to bring the return of snow chances.
That first snow chance may be sooner rather than later. A cold front is dropping in from the northwest today and will cause our temps to drop quickly this afternoon and evening. A band of rain and snow will be possible along and behind this front.
The NAM is even trying to put a little snow down tonight:
I guess we will have to wait and see about that, but some snow is possible behind the front. Here’s regional radar to track the action:
The air filtering in for the week ahead turns colder and colder and could get flirt with nasty by the end of the week. Look at how far below normal these temps are:
Those numbers are in Celsius and averaged out over a 5 day period. It doesn’t get much better once we get into March:
That is just a cold pattern and one that shows no signs of an early spring. It’s also one with snow potential. The next snow threat will come by the middle of the week with another by next weekend.
Have a great Sunday and take care.
