Good Friday and welcome to the first full day of spring. We have a sensational start to the mild weather season across central and eastern Kentucky. While everyone is dreaming of lake weather, I’m tracking the possibility of winter weather over the next week.
High temps today will be in the middle 60s for much of the region with mostly sunny skies. Winds will be rather gusty and could top 30mph at times.
A weak cold front moves in for Saturday and could bring a shower or two our way. Temps will start near 60 then drop as the day wears on. Gusty winds will usher in much colder air to wrap up the weekend. That’s when a wave of low pressure develops to our south. That will throw moisture our way by early Sunday:
Early day Rain and snow will be possible… especially across the south. Highs on Sunday may not get much above 40 degrees.
Another shot of cold air surges in by Monday night and Tuesday as a storm develops to our south. Many of the models are taking this storm up the east coast and that could mean some snow for Kentucky. Check out the European Model:
That’s one heck of a winter storm lashing the east coast during this time. Gusty winds, the chance for snow and very cold air will highlight the forecast for the middle of next week.
Welcome to spring in Kentucky!
Enjoy your Friday and take care.
