Good Saturday, everyone. Our weekend is off and running on a very ugly weather note across central and eastern Kentucky. Believe it or not, a shot of winter weather is possible this evening and tonight before spring takes off.
Rain and gusty winds will dominate the day throughout the region.
Temps will be mild this morning, but will drop like a rock this afternoon from northwest to southeast. Colder air will meet up with the precipitation and that may mean a period of light snow. The models are even trying to put down some snow on the ground across the east:
Warmer air begins to fight in by the afternoon as temps hit the 50s with sunny skies. Spring break for a lot of areas begins on Monday and mother nature aims to please. Highs Monday into Tuesday should hit 70 degrees. There is a small chance for a shower or storm on Tuesday.
Thunderstorms may become common from Wednesday through the end of next week. Some of these could be on the strong side and produce heavy rainfall. The GFS is spitting out some impressive 7 day rain numbers:
