Spring weather moves in

Good Monday, everyone. Spring is slowly taking control of the weather pattern across the bluegrass state. This week will find temperatures taking off and the threat for thunderstorms on the increase. That sounds a lot like spring to me.

Today is absolutely gorgeous. Highs will soar well into the 60s and may flirt with 70 under mostly sunny skies. Tuesday looks to be equally as nice, but with a few more clouds. There is just the smallest chance for a shower in the north.

70s for highs move in for Wednesday through Friday with rounds of thunderstorms taking over. The GFS shows how the storms roll our way in waves:

Some of these storms could be strong or severe and that’s going to be something to keep a close eye on.

Heavy rain looks to be a good bet during this time. Rainfall amounts of 1″-2″ should be common:

GFS 2Stronger storms can produce amounts greater than 1″-2″.

Colder and drier air moves in over the coming weekend and this trend chilly. The chilly air takes us into the start of next week. This is when another big rain maker pushes in from the southwest.

Enjoy the great weather of today and take care.
