A summer day before a taste of winter

Good Sunday, everyone. I don’t have the words to describe how awesome the weather is this weekend. Summer air and sunny skies are combining for picture perfect conditions across the bluegrass state.

Make sure you get outside and play because a taste of winter is on the way less than two days from now. Yes, you heard that correctly.

High temps today will be in the upper 70s and low 80s across central and eastern Kentucky. This could put some areas within range of record highs.

Current temperatures

Clouds will increase later in the day with showers and storms not too far behind. This action will be along and ahead of a powerhouse of a cold front that swings in on Monday. Some of the storms could be strong or severe out ahead of this front.

Winds will be very gusty as temps go from near 70 ahead of the front into the 30s right behind it. Check out the crash:

The cold air crashing in behind this front may mean a period of light snow by Tuesday morning:

GFS 2If we can get some snow to fall, that would mark the 7th straight month it has snowed in Lexington. That would be a rare accomplishment.

Freezing temps are likely behind for the middle of next week.

As I said… enjoy what we have out there today. Take care.
