Good Monday and welcome to a taste of summer. Temps will take off and will reach the middle 80s on more than one occasion this week. This means the complaint department is officially on notice. The “it’s too hot” crowd will be out in full force this week.
Highs today will reach the upper 70s in the north and northeast with low 80s elsewhere. Can we squeeze out isolated showers of thunderstorms? It’s possible, but not likely. Here are your Monday weather toys:
The pattern coming for Tuesday through Thursday will find out temperatures really taking off. This is a setup that favors significant warmth across much of the country:
Low and middle 80s look common across central and eastern Kentucky during this time. Western Kentucky thermometers may even make a run at the 90 degree mark before all is said and done.
A slow moving cold front moves in by Friday and hangs around through the weekend. That is likely to produce rounds of showers and thunderstorms and some of those could be strong or severe.
Heavy rainfall is also possible. The European Model is spitting out some impressive rain numbers this weekend:
