Very chilly air moving in

Good Thursday, everyone. Much colder than normal than air continues to slam into the Bluegrass State from the Northwest. This will send temps toward record lows over the next few mornings.

Gusty showers will continue through the first half of the day, with readings dropping through the 50s. We are likely to see highs staying in the mid- and upper 50s for most of the afternoon, but gusty winds will make it feel even colder.

Morning lows by Friday might drop into the mid and upper 30s, and that would put readings within reach of records. The GFS has a very cold look to it:

GFS If skies are clear and winds are calm, frost is a strong possibility for parts of Central and Eastern Kentucky. Wow!

Friday afternoon will see highs recovering toward the 60-degree mark, and scattered showers and storms might develop. The weekend will see highs slowly rising through the 60s, with increasing amounts of sun.

Much warmer air is lurking for the middle and end of next week. We could easily be back in the 80s:

Have a great day and take care.
