Some relief for the weekend?

Good Thursday, everyone. We continue to be in a pattern that is skewed toward producing showers and thunderstorms across the region. That doesn’t mean we can’t catch some breaks, and that appears to be the case as we head into the weekend. Life is all about timing.

A scattered shower or thunderstorm will develop Thursday across Central and Eastern Kentucky. It won’t be as widespread as what we’ve had in recent days, but heavy rains and a strong storm will be possible. Highs will hit the upper 70s to low 80s in many areas.

Current temperatures

The threat of showers and storms will increase as we head into Friday. That’s when a cold front sweeps in from the northwest:

Highs for Friday will be in the low to middle 70s because of the clouds and rain potential. Winds will gust up as even cooler air moves in to start the weekend. Lows by Saturday morning might even drop into the upper 40s for parts of the area.

That should set the stage for a gorgeous Saturday across our part of the world. Sunshine will combine with pleasant temps to make this a winner of a weather day. Look at the forecast highs from the European Model:

Euro 2Temps will begin to warm by Sunday as readings rebound into the 80s. We have an outside shot at 90 early next week, but an increase in showers and storms might keep the heat at bay.

Have a great Thursday and take care.
