Great weather for the Fourth

Good Wednesday to one and all. Isolated showers and thunderstorms continue to rumble across the region ahead of a cold front that’s moving through. The front will deliver some amazing weather for Independence Day and the weekend.

Highs Wednesday will be into the mid- and upper 80s, with those scattered showers and storms. There could be some torrential rainfall.

That cold front slowly moves to our east by Thursday. A leftover shower or storm will be possible, but the big news is the cool-down coming in behind it. Highs for Thursday and the Fourth might not get above 80 degrees for most of the state. Check out the forecast highs from the GFS:

Lows will be on the very cool side for this time of year. Lows in the 50 are a given, and some areas could be close to the 50-degree mark. The GFS even has some cooler numbers showing up:

GFSIf those numbers are even close to being correct, Lexington could flirt with a record low temperature.

The rest of the weekend looks sunny, with highs rising back into the 80s.

Have a great day and take care.
