Tracking storms and colder air

Good Sunday to one and all. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms are set to increase later today and into Monday. These storms may become severe, but should bring some beneficial rains to the region. All of this is followed up by the potential for record cold by the middle of the week.

Scattered storms are possible early today, but the main action may come in a late day line of storms from the northwest. High winds may accompany the strongest storms. Additional rounds of showers and storms will be around Monday into early Tuesday as our pattern undergoes a major change.

This change will bring in a deep trough across the central and eastern part of the country:

Record low temps for Lexington and surrounding areas are in Jeopardy Wednesday and Thursday. Highs look to be in the very pleasant mid and upper 70s.
