Watching the prospects for weekend rain

Good Thursday, everyone. Our fall fling continues across Central and Eastern Kentucky, and it has your friendly weatherdude ready for football. While the nice weather continues. Rain looks to arrive in time for the weekend.

Temps to start us out today will be in the 50-55 degree range for many areas. The record low for the day for Lexington is 53 in 1976. We have a shot of getting there. Let’s track the numbers from the Kentucky Mesonet.

Afternoon highs will mainly be in the mid- and high 70s under partly sunny skies.

Clouds will increase Friday, and we could see some late-day showers developing from the south. Highs will be near 80 degrees — well below normal.

Showers and some thunderstorms will increase over the weekend as an area of low pressure works into the Ohio Valley from the southwest:

That should keep the chances of on-and-off showers and storms from the weekend into early next week. This does not mean your weekend will be a washout.
