Tracking the increasing storm chances

Good Wednesday, folks. Our temperatures continue to run on the tepid side for early August as our cooler than normal summer rolls on. Some areas could use a drink of water and the threat for showers and storms is increasing.

Let’s start with today and hit the fast forward button.

Highs will range from the mid to upper 80s for many with a mix of sun and clouds. A scattering of showers and storms will come calling as the day wears on. As usual, I have your daily dose of tracking toys:

Current temperatures

Showers and storms will increase even more later Thursday and then really ramp up for Friday. Check out the simulated radar picture from the NAM on Friday:

Heavy rain and some strong storms will be possible with this system as it works across the state.

This should be the first of a couple of rounds of showers and storms that will take us through the weekend and into early next week. The GFS shows some pretty good rainfall numbers during the next week:

GFS 2 That would certainly go a long way in helping out some of the dry areas in the region.

Temps should stay normal to a little below normal this weekend through the early part of next week. Odds do favor another much cooler than normal blast of air targeting the region late next week.

Happy Wednesday and take care.
