Showers and storms increase

Good Saturday, everyone. Labor Day Weekend is here and that means cookouts and football are in full swing. Mother Nature is playing the part of the uninvited guest and is going to try to wreck some of our plans.

Tropical moisture will deliver rounds of showers and thunderstorms to the region today through early next week. The storms today will be scattered early, but will increase from southwest to northeast this afternoon and evening.

If you are heading out to Commonwealth Stadium for the Cats season opener, take the poncho to be safe. The worst of the weather should hold off until after the game, but a storm or two may be around. It’s also going to be super-duper humid.

The flow is coming straight from the Gulf of Mexico and that’s a region loaded with juice. Take a look at the simulated radar from the NAM for later tonight and early Sunday:

Locally heavy rainfall is a good bet across the region during this time.

Showers and thunderstorms will be scattered into Labor Day and those will likely hang tough into much of next week. It will also be another steamy week across central and eastern Kentucky with temps above normal to start September.

I have you all set for your one stop shop in tracking toys on this busy Saturday.
