Good Monday to one and all. Fall officially arrives at 10:29 p.m. Monday, and we’re marking its arrival with some chilly weather. This fall air kicks off a very nice week of weather across the commonwealth.
Highs Monday will hit the mid- and upper 60s across most of our region, with a mix of sun and clouds and gusty winds.
Clearing skies and calm winds will allow for temps to tank by Tuesday morning. Many of the models continue to show some of the traditional cold spots close to 40 degrees. Here’s the Hi-Res NAM temperature forecast:
Again, to get numbers that low, we will need skies to be totally clear and for the winds to go completely calm. Regardless, Tuesday morning will be a chilly one across the area.
Afternoon highs will hit the upper 60s for most of Central and Eastern Kentucky as we continue with sunny skies.
Highs will hit the 70s from Wednesday through Friday, with mainly sunny skies. Mild afternoons and cool nights will make for another prolonged period of pleasant fall weather.
The pattern starts to change over the weekend. That’s when we watch for a possible system developing in the Gulf of Mexico. This could bring some rain our way by late weekend or early next week. The GFS Model is keying in on Sunday:
