Good Tuesday, gang. While we enjoy another nice weather day, I’m focusing on some big changes moving in for the weekend. The coldest air of the young season looks to come thundering in behind a strong cold front.
That front arrives on Friday with widespread showers and thunderstorms working in from the west. The European Model continues to show a lot of wind to go along with the rain:
That looks ugly for the opening day of the fall meet at Keeneland. Temps should start in the low 70s, but drop quickly as the front passes. Low and mid 50s should be common for high school football fans.
The air grows even colder for Saturday:
That’s a map straight out of November and may keep highs from reaching 60 degrees. The Cats game at Commonwealth Stadium will be a very chilly one. Temps will be in the low and mid 50s at kickoff and then drop into the upper 40s by the 4th quarter.
